VIDEO

New Video Recording Service Coming

COMET-METNET recently purchased a Codian 2220 IP VCR to install at the University Center Rochester site. This device is capable of recording in all three video formats (Windows Media, Quicktime, and Real) which can be viewed live or archived. It can be used for five video conferences and classes. Video clips can be exported to burn on CD or uploaded to other servers. By locating it at Rochester, we will have enough bandwidth for all COMET and METNET sites to access. More information about use of this service will be provided as it becomes available.

New METNET WebMail Option Available

METNET now offers WebMail 3.0, a new version of WebMail which is faster and includes new features. Both WebMail 3.0 and the current version, WebMail (Pro) 2.0, are available for use. See the METNET E-Mail Services Page for more information.

Breeze Services

The Breeze 4.1 server will be decommisioned effective October 2. (Please note: Breeze 5.1 services will still be available.) Beginning August 14, publishing content and scheduling meetings on the Breeze 4.1 server was no longer available. Content (presentations and meeting recordings) on the Breeze 4.1 server will be available until October 2. METChat

METChat Jabber is a stand alone text chat tool which is being implemented this Fall. METChat provides real-time messaging and can be integrated with a METNET account/identity so you know who is chatting. Applications include real-time synchronous communication, discussion groups for courses, online help, and more. Jabber is a secure, ad-free, open source protocol offered by the Jabber Software Foundation and made available to the COMET-METNET Partnership by The University of Minnesota.
